Nancy Lendrim is Principal Harpist of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, where she holds the Lois Nitschke Chair for Harp. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music, Nancy was a student of renowned harpist Alice Chalifoux, and for 12 summers was a participant at the Salzedo Harp Colony in Camden, Maine.
Nancy has appeared frequently as a soloist with The Toledo Symphony, and has performed as an auxiliary harpist with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, North Carolina Opera, Detroit Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony. She formed the Salzedo Harp Duo in 2000 with Jody Guinn, performing at the American Harp Society National Conference in Dearborn, Michigan and at World Harp Congresses in Geneva and Amsterdam. The Duo has released three CDs on the Azica label, and their recordings are available on Apple Music and Spotify.
For 14 years, Nancy collaborated with Elizabeth Hainen as Director of Harp Ensembles for the Saratoga Harp Colony and Curtis Summerfest. She is also on the faculty of the University of Toledo and the Toledo School for the Arts. Nancy, a Suzuki-Certified harp teacher, coordinates a public school program of harp students in the fifth through twelfth grades in Perrysburg, Ohio, and maintains an active roster of private students. Recent master classes have included the University of Michigan, Tanglewood and the Young Artist’s Harp Seminar. In addition, Nancy has served as both clinician and adjudicator at numerous harp conferences and competitions, including as a preliminary judge for the 2016 USA International Harp Competition, 2018 and 2021 American Harp Society Conferences, and the 2022 Young Artist’s Harp Seminar in Chestertown, MD. Each summer, she is harpist for the MostArts Festival in Alfred, NY, and directs an annual HarpFest, a multi-generational harp camp.In 2017, Nancy was elected to a term on the Board of Directors of the American Harp Society.
Offstage, Nancy enjoys cooking, quilting, her book club and running an occasional 10K or half marathon. She lives in Sylvania, Ohio with husband Roger Greive. Her adult sons Elliot and Oliver call, but not nearly enough :)
